Obituary for Denise Ann Duthie

DUTHIE: Denise Ann Duthie (Edwards) passed away suddenly at her home in Brandon on August 16, 2013. Denise was born to George and Bernice Edwards in Neilburg, Saskatchewan on December 28, 1952. Early in her life she lived in Marsden and Lloydminster, Saskatchewan before the family relocated to Strathclair. Upon graduating from Strathclair High School, Denise moved to Brandon to pursue her career in Nursing. In 1975, Denise achieved her Registered Nurse designation and worked for several years at Hillcrest Place before joining the Home Care department at the Brandon RHA where she worked for the past 23 years. Denise was an avid reader and enjoyed watching her children participate in all sorts of activities including sports, dancing and drama. She enjoyed traveling, especially to visit family, and would always be the leader in getting a family game of cards started. Denise had tremendous passion for being a nurse and she displayed this in her dedication to her co-workers and patients during her career at the RHA. Most of all, Denise was extremely proud to be a Grandma to Reese and Ethan and the boys loved to play with her for hours on end. Whatever they wanted to do, Grandma was game and the house would vibrate with laughter from children and adults alike. Denise is survived by her father George Edwards of Brandon; son Ryan, (Amy) and grandson Reese of Brandon; daughter Sarah, (Tom) and grandson Ethan of Kelowna; sister Debbie (Ron), niece Stefani, nephew Daylan (Vanessa) and children Meliya and Benjamin; brother Lyndon (Antonia) and nephews Jack and Lucas, all of Aurora, Ontario. Denise was predeceased by her mother Bernice. Ceremony to Celebrate Denise’s Life took place at Central United Church on Wednesday, August 21, 2013. Interment followed at Rosewood Memorial Gardens. Donations in memory of Denise may be made to Westman Dreams for Kids #2 – 37 11th Street, Brandon, Manitoba, R7A 4J2.
