Like so many fellow Gunners across the country, I consider it a rare privilege to have served with CWO White. He was BSM U Battery in 1978 when I arrived in the battery as a new subaltern not long before we deployed to Cyprus. What a man! What charisma! I shall always be grateful for his guidance, example and unsurpassed sense of humour. He held the profound respect and heartfelt affection of us all.
