Obituary for Michael "Mike" Hofer

HOFER: Mike Hofer, of Chater, Manitoba suddenly passed into the loving arms of his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ on April 16, 2000. Mike was born January 28, 1930 in Elie, Manitoba. He will be sadly missed by his beloved wife Clara, whom he married in 1951; and by their fourteen loving children: Mike, John (Becka), Jake (Freda), Joe, Clara (Ken), Sam (Lena), Maryann (Harold), Dora (Rob), Janice (Phillip), Tim, Mark (Jemine), Calvin, Hilda and Thelma. He will also be remembered by his grandchildren whom he loved dearly: Dallas, Jeanie, Wanda, Keri, Kendra, Jaime, Tammy, Amy, Stacey, Cody, Rena, Stephanie, Janelle, Sarah, Jade, Scott, Jasmine, and Joel. Mike is survived by his sisters Mary and Justina; brothers Elie (Elizabeth), Dave (Kathryn), and Paul (Lena); and by numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents John and Anna; sisters: Anna, Susie and Mary; brothers: John, Jake, Joseph, and Andrew; and also by his daughter-in-law, Sandra. In 1981, Mike, along with his family took a courageous step of faith and moved to the farm in Chater where he resided until his passing. Mike will be remembered for his deep relationship with the Lord and for his passion to share the gospel with others. He will be missed by all those who shared a coffee with him; those he visited with his guitar and Bible; and by the many friends he made through his business. A service to celebrate Mike's life will be held at Bethel Christian Assembly, 440 Richmond Avenue, on Thursday (today) April 20, 2000 at 2:00 p.m. Rev. Leonard Wurch and Rev. Richard Wittmeier will officiate. Viewing will be held at the church one hour prior to the service. Flowers are gratefully declined. If friends so choose, donations in memory of Mike may be made to the Foreign Missions Dept, c/o Christian Life Centre, 155 - 16th Street, Brandon, MB R7A 4X3.
