Obituary for Janice Marie McLean

Janice Marie McLean
It is with great sadness that the family of Janice Marie McLean (nee Evaskow) announces her passing on January 20, 2020 at the age of 63 years. Janice was born to Walter and Sophie Evaskow on January 7, 1957 in Edmonton, Alberta. She relocated to Brandon with her parents when she was a child and married her husband Richard McLean on December 20, 1975. Janice is survived by her husband, their three children Angela (Garrett Ronceray), Amanda (Tyler Lepard), and Matthew (Chelsey Geddes); and grandchildren Hayden Lepard and Brooke Ronceray. She is also survived by her mother Sophie and her siblings Susan (Marty) Zuzens, Dianne (Steve) Costello, Jerry Evaskow, and Barbara Spendelow, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her father Walter and infant brother Michael. Janice was an avid gardener, loved to travel, and enjoyed spending time with family. Anyone that visited her home in the summer saw the evidence of her hard work in the beautiful gardens that flourish on the property. She and her husband took their children on many cross-country road trips throughout Canada and the United States, and later in life traveled to many southern countries (Mexico, Bahamas, Jamaica, Dominican Republic) to escape the cold Manitoba winters. She was also able to visit Ukraine with her mother, sisters Susan and Dianne, and daughter Angela. Every trip was an adventure for her and she made sure to explore all the sites. She loved the role of grandmother and took every opportunity to spend time with and spoil her grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by all that knew her. The funeral service was held at Memories Chapel on Wednesday, January 29, 2020, officiated by Rev. Fr. Michael Tkachuk; cantor was Stella Fedeniuk. Her final resting place is the Brandon Cemetery. Donations in memory of Janice may be made to Cystic Fibrosis Canada, 800 – 2323 Yonge Street, Toronto, Ontario, M4P 2C9.
