Obituary for Audrey May "Babs" Fabian

FABIAN: Audrey May “Babs”. At her home in Dinsdale Personal Care Home, Mother passed peacefully into the arms of her Lord on Sunday, October 20, 2019. Mum was born May 3, 1924 in Melksham, Whiltshire, England to Leonard and Daisy Jane Hirst. She married Edward “Ted” Fabian at the end of the Second World War and celebrated more than 60 years together. Dad predeceased Mum as did her parents and her brother Ted Hirst. Babs is survived by her two sons Michael (Suzy) of England and Tony (Linda) and their three children and ten grandchildren: Justin (Kim), Kaitlyn and Gillian; Georgina (Bruce), Elizabeth, Sarah, Kate and William; Jeremy (Toni), Ryder, Hunter, Emery and Brynn. Mum joined the army (the Royal Artillery Regiment) at an early age and was a Radar Operator for the ack-ack guns (anti-aircraft). She served in France, Belgium and Germany. It was in the armed forces that Mum and Dad met each other. Post war, Mum worked as an aircraft riveter then secretarial, administrative positions and nursing. Mum loved her nursing and was involved in the state enrolled nursing program. Mum’s last position here in Brandon was as a unit clerk on 400 at BGH. Mum and Dad came to Canada in 1978 to be closer to their grandchildren and greatly enjoyed their life and friends here. A Celebration of the Life of Babs Fabian will take place on Monday, November 18, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at the Vineyard Church, 1327 Rosser Avenue, Brandon. Should anyone desire, donations may be made in Mum’s name to the Dinsdale Personal Care Home Residents Fund, 510 – 6th Street, Brandon, MB R7A 3N9 or the Brandon Humane Society, 2200 – 17th Street East, Brandon, MB R7A 7M6.
