Obituary for Martha Edna Kehler (Steele)

Martha Edna  Kehler (Steele)
With heavy hearts the family of Martha Edna (nee Steele) Kehler announces her peaceful passing on Tuesday, August 13, 2019 at the Brandon Regional Health Centre. She was predeceased by her husband Bernard “Ben” Kehler and survived by her children Elwood (Woody) Kehler (Nancy Servante), Sheldon (Gwen) Kehler, Deanna (Brad) Danielson, 7 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Martha was born in Manor, Saskatchewan on December 10, 1925. She came to Brandon in 1949 after attending Prairie Bible Institute in Three Hills Alberta and working in Winnipeg where she met Ben at the Alliance Tabernacle. In 1951, she married Ben and started a family. Martha worked for various businesses including the Alliance Chapel, H.R. Hoffman and Universal Doors and alongside Ben in the family business (Benmarks) for over 25 years. Ben and Martha were active members of McDiarmid Drive Alliance Church for more than 65 years. From teaching Sunday School, to coordinating Pioneer Clubs, to working with women’s groups and seniors, Martha loved her involvement at the church. She also enjoyed gardening, spending time with family and traveling with Ben. They spent their final years at Rideau Park Personal Care Home. Martha continued to keep active in various events and served her Saviour by showing love and kindness for those around her. Martha will be greatly missed. The service to celebrate Martha’s life will be held at McDiarmid Drive Alliance Church, 635 McDiarmid Drive on Wednesday, August 21, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. In accordance with Martha’s wishes, in lieu of flowers donations may be made to Missions, McDiarmid Drive Alliance Church, 635 McDiarmid Drive, Brandon, Manitoba, R7B 2H6 or Wycliffe Bible Translators (WBT), 4316 10 St NE, Calgary, Alberta, T2E 6K3.
