EARL: It is with great sadness that the family of Robert Morris Earl, known to most as Morris Earl, announces that Morris passed away on Tuesday, May 21, 2019 with family by his side. Morris was born June 20, 1928 in Brandon and was raised in the Justice area. At the age of 15 he travelled with his sister Evelyn to Red Deer, Alberta to visit relatives. While visiting, he got a job in an Auto Body Repair Shop where he took his apprenticeship. He returned home for Christmas and met his first wife Gladys. After a long distance courtship, he returned to Brandon to marry Gladys in 1946. Morris was hired by Canadian Motors where he worked for three years. Morris would work many evenings not only on customers' vehicles, but also on his stock car (#77) that he drove in stock car racing in 1952. Eventually he would venture on his own. In 1960, he purchased a building located at 1517 Princess Avenue, which is still present location and named the business "Central Auto Body". Morris was a very proud and talented man but he would never admit it. He had a gift with his hands and it reflected in his work. Morris and Gladys had three children: Randy, Glen and Janene. Morris was one of a few parents that was able to drive and follow his children in sports. In the late 1970s he pursued another passion he had and purchased a closed nine hole golf course. With a few friends and family he reconstructed the course and turned it into an eighteen hole course. With the help of family, neighbours and members, he named the course Glen Lea. Morris and Gladys travelled in the winters to Victoria, BC, Hawaii, Bahamas, Palm Springs and New Brunswick. After the passing of Gladys in September 1991, he continued to travel to the East and West coasts visiting family. In his younger days Morris loved to dance, curl, fish, hunt, golf and read. His favourite sport to watch on television was baseball, specifically the Toronto Blue Jays. Later, due to his eye sight, he loved listening to audio books. Morris married Denise Kruk on May 5, 2000. They would travel to Mexico and Texas, and formed a group named The Winter Texan Group. They would meet in the summers at Glen Lea Golf Course for a golf tournament and fellowship. Morris was very proud of his grandchildren and great grandchildren and would take great interest in their activities and follow them whenever he could. Morris will be lovingly remembered by his family. He was a husband to Denise (nee Kruk); Father to Randy, Glen (Rosalyn) and Janene (Neil) Roy; Grandpa to Jason, Shaun and Ashlea Earl, Colin (Darla), Derek and Travis Roy; Great Grandpa to Nash, Oliver and Amelia Earl and Quinn and Connor Roy; also called Grandpa by Christine (Todd) Burton, Andrea (Rob) King and Kathi Flemington; and Great Grandpa by Elizabeth, Victoria, Isabelle, Sophia and Alexandria King, Matthew Flemington, Stephanie and Sarah Heaton and Tahlia Burton. He is also survived by his oldest brother Elmer Earl, who will be turning 100 in August, and his wife Mae of Brandon. Morris was predeceased by his first wife Gladys; parents Harry and Margaret Earl; sisters Evelyn Smith and Edna Martin; brother Murray Earl; brothers-in-law Howard Smith and Eldon Martin; and sister-in-law Eileen Earl. The Celebration of Morris's Life will be held at Glen Lea Golf Course (in a tent) on Wednesday, June 19, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. with Mike Waddell officiating. Private interment will be at Rosewood Memorial Gardens.
