Obituary for Lloyd Douglas Collister

Lloyd Douglas Collister
Lloyd “Cloud” Douglas passed away peacefully on Monday, April 15, 2019. Lloyd was born to Henry and Margurite Collister on May 16, 1943 in Brandon. He attended Earl Oxford and Vincent Massey High School. Upon finishing school he started his working life as a miner at Lynn Lake, Manitoba. In 1962 he met his future wife Geri and they were married on August 3, 1963. They returned to Brandon, and following in the footsteps of his grand-father, Chief Harry Collister, Lloyd joined the Brandon Police Service, where he enjoyed his career for 35 years. He then served as Chief of Police in Rivers, Manitoba for three-years. During his career as a police officer, Lloyd enjoyed entering shooting competitions where he achieved the highest level of awards. After his retirement, Lloyd and Geri spent their winters in Texas and Mexico, where they enjoyed many “happy hours” and made life-long friends. He also looked forward to his routine of meeting his buddies for coffee and spending time with family. Lloyd was predeceased by his parents Henry and Margurite Collister and sister Val Thomson. He will lovingly be remembered by his wife Geri of 56 years; children Tracey Bessette (Walter), Shayne (Karen) Collister and Dee (Rodney) McKay; grandchildren Sean (Kayla), Tyler (Samantha), Quinton, Shelby, Jessica (Brayden), and Cyrus (Amanda); great-grandchildren Aria and Henley; brother Jack (Marge); sister Cheryl (Dean); and many nieces and nephews. The family will cherish Lloyd's memory privately.
