Obituary for Murray Allan Thomson

Murray Allan  Thomson
Murray Allan Thomson, age 55 years, passed away at the Souris Health Centre on Sunday, February 3, 2019. Murray was born in Carberry, Manitoba on November 8, 1963. As a young lad he played hockey, baseball and went to school in Brandon. Murray started his career in the Automotive industry, pulling wrenches and then moving on to managing two auto parts stores. After a back injury, he found his calling as a teacher's assistant at Crocus Plains school in the automotive department, then at Souris School. When Murray hurt his back he had to move home and was bedridden for five years. On many occasions, Murray and his mother would talk about family. Sometimes Murray, not quite sure who she was talking about, decided to get involved in doing the family tree. Murray was known as the family genealogist as it was a very big part of his life. He was also a very big fan of the Calgary Flames. Murray is survived by his loving wife Viviane; his daughter Amanda (Jorge Mejia Tobar); grandchildren Shane, Daniel, Alexys, Ayribella and Kaelob. He is also survived by his brother Doug (Emily); nephew and nieces Michael, Stephanie, Samantha Nicole and in-laws Leonard and Edna Middleton. He was predeceased by his parents Howard and Laura "Merle" (nee Cottam) Thomson and his brothers Glen and Gary Thomson. The Celebration of Murray's Life was held at Memories Chapel on Saturday, February 9, 2019. Lydia Glawson officiated. Urn bearer was Doug Thomson. Donations in memory of Murray may be made to the Souris Health Centre, Box 10, Souris, Manitoba, R0K 2C0.
