Obituary for Dorothy Isobel Mitchell

Dorothy Isobel Mitchell
Suddenly, after a brief illness, Dorothy Isobel Mitchell (nee Leask) left us to be with her Lord and Saviour on Friday, November 16, 2018 at the age of 79. Born December 26, 1938 to John and Lulu Leask, Dorothy spent her early years on the family farm near Virden. On October 18, 1958, she married Vern Mitchell. Dorothy moved to Brandon in 1983 where she was employed by BRHA as a Homecare attendant from 1989 - 2002. Dorothy had a strong faith in the Lord and enjoyed being part of the fellowship at Bethel Christian Assembly. She was not afraid to die because of her unwavering faith. She always had others in her prayers. Dorothy enjoyed all sports, participating in her younger years and as a spectator as she got older. She was always interested in googling friends and family's vacations spots, interesting trivia and little known facts. She was an avid reader. Dorothy's greatest joy was her family. She loved to be included in our numerous family activities, often sitting quietly and taking it all in. She is survived by her children: Myles (Theresa), Mark (Bev) and Kelly (Garry) Cooper, grandchildren: Charlie, John (Jennifer), Chris (Dianna), Ryan (Jackie), Nick Cooper, Devon Cooper (Kayla), great grandchildren: Joey, Willow, Peyton, Ryker and Max. She is also survived by brothers: George (Sheila), John (Louise), Ed (Suzanne) and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Dorothy was predeceased by her parents, her brother Garth and sister-in-law Sylvia, granddaughter Jennifer Nicole and great-granddaughter Kiah May. The Celebration of Dorothy's Life was held at Memories Chapel on Saturday, November 24, 2018 with Pastor Len Smith officiating. Song leader was Phil Price and soloist was her niece, Heather Leask Armstrong. A private family interment will take place in the spring at Breadalbane Cemetery. Donations in memory of Dorothy may be made to Salvation Army, 9 Princess Avenue East, Brandon, Manitoba, R7A 1R8 or to a charity of one's choice.
