Obituary for John "Jack" Andrew Ready

John "Jack" Andrew  Ready
John Andrew (Jack) Ready passed away at the Bren-Del-Win Lodge for seniors in Deloraine, on September 11, 2018 in his 92nd year. He was born October 16, 1926, on the family farm near Desford, MB to parents Harold and Amelia. Jack worked on the farm until he met and married Rubie Isabelle Hogg in December, 1944. The Readys left the farm a couple of years later, moving to Oak Lake where Jack learned the printing trade from Rubie's father. They later moved to Virden (Empire Advance) in 1954 and to Brandon (Sun) in 1959 through to his retirement in 1990. Rubie predeceased Jack in April of 2016. Jack is survived by his children, Connie (Bill Grant) Vernon, BC, Lynne (Gerry Hillier) Vulcan, AB, Jackie Vockeroth (widowed) Okotoks, AB, John (Darlene) of Calgary, AB and Marla (Jerry) Gillis of Summerland, BC. Also surviving are eight grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. Predeceased include his mother and father, Amelia and Harold Ready and a sister, Vera Matheson as well as his in-law parents, Arlie and Russell Hogg. There will be no funeral. By choice, a graveside service will be held to inter the urn of ashes at the Oak Lake cemetery. In lieu of flowers or gifts, those wishing to make a donation in Jack's memory, can make it to YWCA Women's Shelter in Brandon. The shelter was a favorite cause for Jack who donated well over 100 handmade quilts for those in need.
