Earl Thompson
On Thursday, June 14, 2018, Earl Ronald Thompson, passed away in Brandon. Born November 4, 1966 to Joyce Thompson (nee Perrin) and Ronald Thompson, Earl was raised in Brandon, Manitoba and graduated from Neelin High School. During his high school years, Earl worked at Buns Master Bakery. Following graduation, Earl completed Carpentry and Woodworking as well as Architectural Drafting at Assiniboine Community College in Brandon. He was also an evening instructor for computer drafting at Assiniboine Community College. In 1986, Earl was hired by Manitoba Hydro and was a dedicated employee as Team Leader of The Geographical Information Service for 32 years. Active in the community, Earl was in Scouts, he was a very proud Air Cadet of Squadron 82 (and later Civilian Instructor), an enthusiastic volunteer projectionist for the Evans Theatre at Brandon University, and a member of the Manitoba Hydro Golf League. When not at work, Earl spent his time doing the things he most enjoyed: golfing, woodworking, volunteer projectionist, aviation and war historian, sky diving, zip lining, edge walking the CN Tower in Toronto, Ont., culinary adventurist, playing billiards, travelling, and movies. He was always happy to help out his family and friends with building a garage, shingling a roof, or building a fence. If ever you needed help, Earl was there with hammer in hand.
