On Friday, June 1, 2018, John "Jack" Lee, age 84 years, passed away peacefully with family by his side at the Brandon Regional Health Centre. Jack was born June 3, 1933 in McAuley, Manitoba to John and Marjorie Lee and was raised on a farm in McAuley. In his younger years Jack played hockey for the Reeder Royals (3 years) and the Fleming Rockets. He played defence. Jack met Beatrice on a blind date and the rest was history. Together they moved to Brandon and raised their boys, Cameron and Kevin. Jack worked for Highways building roads, then started his 38 year career as an operator with Trans Canada Pipelines, retiring from a job he loved in 1998. A devoted father, Jack enjoyed watching, and coaching, his son's in baseball and hockey. He was an avid fan of the Brandon Wheat Kings and in his spare time he enjoyed woodworking, and had a passion for antique cars; one of his favorite's was the 1957 Belair. Every year Jack enjoyed going to Austin for the Thresherman's Reunion and also attending the Royal Manitoba Winter Fair, watching the Clydesdales and looking at all the farm machinery. Many memories were made with the 5th wheel during camping trips, or travelling to the USA as well as both Canadian Coasts. Always one to keep busy, Jack took night courses at ACC for welding, machining and electrical. When not at work, Jack volunteered for Habitat for Humanity and the Brandon Commonwealth Air Museum. Jack loved and doted over his wife Beatrice and was a devoted father and grandfather. A big, kind and gentle man who put everyone ahead of himself, he was a good eater with a healthy appetite, never complained and he didn't like anyone to fuss over him. Jack will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 57 years, Beatrice; sons Cameron and Kevin (Andras); grandchildren Kiah, Courtney, Nicole and Owen; siblings Rodney, Craig (Beth). He was predeceased by his parents and brother Delbert. A Come and Go Memorial Reception took place at Memories Chapel on Friday, June 8, 2018 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. with family tribute at 3:00 p.m. Donations in memory of Jack may be made to the Brandon Regional Health Centre Foundation for Palliative Care, 150 McTavish Avenue East, Brandon, Manitoba R7A 2B3 or to the Commonwealth Air Training Plan Museum, Box 3, Group 520, RR#5, Brandon, Manitoba R7A 5Y5.
