Ronald Wesley  Ruckle
Suddenly, on Monday, April 16, 2018, Ronald Wesley Ruckle passed away in Brandon. Born December 24,1929 in Carberry, Manitoba to James and Ethel Ruckle, Ronald attended Carberry School and went to work on a farm south of town. In 1949, he started a long career with Manitoba Telephone System. He met Rita Murphy in 1958 and they were married December 26 that same year. In 1959, they moved to Flin Flon, Manitoba where they spent the next 11 years. It was here his two sons were born. In 1970, the family moved to Brandon, Manitoba to be closer to his home town. Ron's hobbies were bowling and curling. He especially loved wood-carving in the workshop with his friends. Ron retired in April 1985 and relaxed his first few years before going to Apache Junction, Arizona for 10 winters. Dad and mom travelled to Alaska, British Columbia and Nova Scotia to visit family many times. After snow birding they returned to live in Brandon together until 2010 when mom passed. Ron moved to Hobb's Manor in 2014 and met many new friends. He loved to joke and had a great sense of humour. Ron is survived by sons David (Maire) and Kevin (June); sister Reta; nieces Pat, Karen and nephew Wayne. He was predeceased by his parents; his wife Rita of 52 years; step-mother Caroline; nephew Richard and brother-in-law John. A private graveside service was held Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at the Carberry Plains Cemetery with Arlene Robertson officiating. Honourary pallbearers were Ken Ranson, Jack Kissock, Ed Drabyk and George Roberds and his friends from Hobb's Manor. A Come and Go Reception was held at Memories Chapel on Wednesday, April 25, 2018 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Donations in memory of Ron may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, #3-2430 Victoria Avenue, Brandon, Manitoba R7B 0M5.
