Obituary for Candice Louise Robertson

Candice Louise Robertson
Peacefully, on Tuesday, December 12, 2017, Candice Louise Robertson passed away at the Brandon Regional Health Centre with family by her side. Born May 11, 1971 on Mother's Day, a beautiful gift to her family, Candice grew up on the family farm and received her education in Margaret (kindergarten), Minto and Boissevain. During those years, she became involved with 4-H, figure skating, teaching figure skating, singing in the Minto Choir, majorettes music lessons and following her brothers in hockey. In her last year of high school, she worked the summer with the Hand Crafter, Boissevain. After graduation, Candice went to Winnipeg to take a lab technician course, however, being a country girl, she became homesick and did not finish her course. She moved back to Brandon and then enrolled in the Medical Secretary Course. Candice worked for 11 years as clerk typist for the Brandon City Police. Later she challenged the lab technician course and passed it. During all this time, she struggled with health issues but her perseverance and determination pulled her through. Candice then worked as lab technician for Western Medical Clinic and later Brandon Regional Health Centre. She also worked as desk clerk at the Victoria Inn and did the books for Smitty's on the highway. She volunteered for the summer games in Brandon, enjoyed curling, golfing, playing cards, reading, cross stitching and her dog Saydee. Candice loved to travel when she could. She thought highly of her family, especially her brothers, nephew and nieces. Candice was very independent, determined person and never wanted to be a burden to anyone. She thought of others more so than herself. She had a smile and kind word for everyone. Candice was predeceased by her young brother Richard who passed away in 1977; grandparents and many aunts and uncles. She leaves to mourn her parents Jim and Louise Robertson; brothers Bill, Derek and Ashley (Ronnallee); nephew Austin; nieces Reese and Hadlee; aunts, uncles and numerous cousins. The Funeral Service took place at the Minto United Church on Saturday, December 16, 2017. Rev. Rolanda Taylor officiated. Interment followed at Margaret Cemetery. Donations in memory of Candice may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, #3-2430 Victoria Avenue, Brandon, Manitoba R7B 0M5 or to the Kidney Foundation, Unit 1-452 Dovercourt Drive, Winnipeg, Manitoba R3Y 1G4.

There are so many lives she touched in a positive way
So many memories that bring a smile and show the wonderful person she was
So many stories about how she made a difference or made someone's day
So many hearts that are feeling sadness
Because she was here
Because she was loved.
