CHAMBERS: Marilyn Gayle Chambers (Courtice) age 65, passed away peacefully on March 9, 2012, after a courageous battle with cancer. Marilyn Gayle was born on October 26, 1946 to Bill and Ella Courtice (Kerbis) in Glenboro, Manitoba, the eldest of three children. Gayle grew up in the Wawanesa area, where some of her fondest memories were. After school, she moved to Brandon to take a hairdressing course and worked for a while as a hair stylist. In the early 70's, her career took a different path, when she took a secretarial/business course. She started working at Wilton Trucking for awhile and then at the Prairie Pantry on the North Hill. Over the years, she managed the"Mac's Convenience Store" on First street. Her last 8-10 years she worked at Maple Leaf in the Sanitation department, was involved as a Shop Steward and taught at the UFCW office. Her greatest hobby and love was the enjoyment she got out of her dogs. From Morty the Lab, to a Weimaraner named Harley to a Heinz 57 named Benji. She was involved at the "Crocus Kennel Club" and quite often took one of her dogs to the hospital to do a round of visiting with the patients. Gayle was a daughter, a mother, a grandmother, a sister, a sister-in-law, a cousin, and an aunt. We'll miss her smile, her jokes and all of her stories, and fighting over the turkey drumstick at Thanksgiving. "A page in our book of memories, is gently turned today". Gail was predeceased by her father Bill (Doc) Courtice in 1987 and her nephew Terrance Courtice in 2005. Gayle leaves behind her mother Ella Courtice of Brandon, children Jeff (Amber) Chambers of Brandon, Erin (Matt) Upton of Denver, Colorado, grandchildren Aiden, Mya, Benjamin and Emily. Brother Bill (Gay) Courtice of Brandon, Fred (Ramona) Courtice of Mission, BC. Nieces; Heather and Dara, and a nephew Lance. There are many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. If friends or family wish, donations in memory of Gayle may be made to the Brandon Regional Health Centre Foundation for the Palliative Care Unit, 150 McTavish Avenue, Brandon, MB R7A 2B3. For Gayle's final wishes, there will be no services held.
