Obituary for Glen Usher

The death of Glen Usher of Brandon occurred at the Brandon Regional Health Centre on Tuesday, April 3, 2001. Glen was born in Brandon on April 4, 1945 to Sam and Agnes Usher. He attended elementary school at Central School, Earl Haig Junior High, Brandon Collegiate Institute and later completed a small appliance course at Assiniboine Community College. After leaving school Glen worked for North American Lumber, Dinsdale Personal Care Home and his last place of employment was Assiniboine Community College as a building service worker. Glen had a passion for the game of golf and enjoyed playing pool in the Government Services winter league at the Velvet Rail. He followed all major sports on T.V. and had a special interest in the music of Elvis and The Beatles. Glen is survived by his sisters: Marion Scott of Winnipeg; Laura Gara of Brandon; Joyce (Lavern) Opperman of Killarney; brother: Ken (Kathleen) Smith of Brandon, long time friend and cousin, Roy (Jean) Walwyn of Brandon and a great number of nieces and nephews. Glen was predeceased by his father, Sam Usher; mother, Agnes Usher and brother, Mervin Smith. The Graveside Funeral Service was held at the Brandon Cemetery on Saturday, April 7, 2001. Donations in memory of Glen may be made to the Kidney Foundation of Canada, Manitoba Branch, 42 McTavish Avenue East, Brandon, MB, R7A 2B2.
